The Falcon Fire 14’s JO Volleyball team competed in the Star of the North (SotN) State Games Volleyball Tournament during the weekend of June 22-23.

The Fire, composed of players that will be playing on the 9th grade team for Fillmore Central this fall, won the 14C Tournament (including wins over teams from Eden Prairie, Ada-Borup, Caledonia and Baudette) which was played at Como Park HS in St. Paul. They were 8-1 over-all in the tournament and “avenged” their only loss to Ada-Borup by defeating that same team in the Championship match

The Caledonia 13’s team was also in that tournament and won the Lady Slipper Bracket. They were 6-3 overall, but two of their losses were against The Falcon Fire 14’s and the Ada-Borup team that played in the Championship.

St. Charles 14’s were also in the tournament. They had a record of 6-2 and fell to the Ada-Borup team in the playoff semifinals in a thrilling match.

Mabel-Canton was a part of the 14AB Tournament at the SotN games held at St. Paul Harding HS, and won that tournament’s Championship with a 7-1 record. Like the Falcon Fire, Mabel-Canton also “avenged” their only loss by defeating the Faribault red team for the Championship.

Other local teams in that tournament were Stewartville (which won the title last year when it was held in Rochester), and the Caledonia 14’s.

Falcon Fire and Mabel Canton teams also participated in the 18’s level of the tournament which took place at Macalaster College. The Fire finished 5-2 and Mabel-Canton was 7-1
