Player Profile: Connor Nagle sets record with most points

Another shining star, Connor Nagle is now the owner of Fillmore Central High School's basketball points' leader. Not just for the girls, but the entire school. She broke the girl's record early this year, and broke the school record on December 14th. Her current point total is 1,279 points and with 20 games plus the playoffs left, averaging roughly 20 points a game, she will surely make this a record that lasts. Chatting about how she felt when she broke the record Connor said, "I didn't really know. I shot a three pointer and on the way back down the court, the athletic director announced 'Connor Nagle has broken the school record.' It took awhile to actually hit me." What a fantastic achievement for such a wonderful person.

Connor began playing basketball in the 5th grade. She picked up the ball, and seemingly never put it down. She plays the school season from November through February, and the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) season from April through August for basketball and also plays shortstop for the school softball team in the spring. Always energetic, she arrived home from basketball practice when I interviewed her, she looked ready to go out and play some more. In the 8th grade she made the FCHS Varsity team after beginning the season on Junior Varsity. In the 9th grade she was a fulltime starter for Varsity, and in her junior year she surpassed 1000 points. She thanked Mr. Tim Olstrom for her basketball success. "He has helped since I was little, by opening the gym so I could practice." She also was very appreciative of her coach, Sarah Tollefsrud.

Connor's parents, Devin Nagle and Dawn Hellickson, were not on any sports teams in high school, but they are extremely proud of their daughters. Connor's sister Chelsea Nagle was a volleyball, basketball, and track star in high school.

Aside from sports, Connor is also a great student.

She has maintained a 3.75 GPA despite all her extracurricular activities. During her free time, which there can't be much, Connor spends her time with friends and listening to music. She likes all music from Country to Rap.

Her college plans are all set. She has signed with Winona State University on a basketball scholarship. She hasn't completely decided her major although she is leaning towards Sports Medicine. I fully expect to be writing future articles on this young lady's accomplishments as she moves on to the next level of competition. One thing is for sure she has an enti .....

This NFL season has been crazy. How many of you would have thought the Vikings wouldn't be the NFC North division champs this year as they were last year? I'd bet even fewer would have thought the Vikings would be dethroned, not by the Green Bay Pac .....

Knight girls crown PEM

Not everything went right for Kingsland during their 61-35 rout of the PEM Bulldogs. The Knights made only 1 of 15 three-pointers. Aside from that, and a slow start, the game evolved nicely. Molly Greiner (averaging 19.5/game) hit 6 of her 12 shots, .....
