Second Half Dooms Falcon Boys

The Falcons took to the court against Lewiston-Altura for the second time this season, hoping to avenge a 1-point loss in December. The game was every bit of competitive as the first. The initial 18 minutes saw ten lead changes and five ties. Fillmore shot the ball well from the field, hitting 10 of 17 shots (58.8%); but because of 13 turnovers, they just didn't get enough attempts. On the flip side, the visiting Cards only turned the ball over four times. Resultantly, they got plenty of attempts, 32. They made just 12 (37.5%). Things were thus, ever so close at the half (31-30 L-A). In the second, Fillmore struggled early (two made FG's in the first ten minutes). L-A hitched its wagon to the backs of junior Jerrod Fort and senior Jordan Schultz. The duo accounted for 12 consecutive Cardinal points, the last of which extended the visitors lead to nine (47-38) at the 7:51 mark. The Falcons could never fully recover. They got as close as two twice, but sophomore guard Josh Ehlenfeldt scored five points in the final 1:31 to lead Lewiston-Altura to a 57-53 victory. Three Falcons found double-figures. Jordan Ristau worked the post and the offensive glass well. He led the Falcons with 15 points. James Skaalen and Tyler Eickhoff each got 10. L-A was led by Schultz's 13, though six other guys scored six or more. Both teams missed ten free throws.
