Terry L. Peirce

Terry L. Peirce, 47, of Preston, a retired police officer, died September 1, 2003 in rural Zumbrota of complications of diabetes.

Born Aug. 2, 1956, in Preston, he graduated from Preston High School in 1974 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1974. He was assigned to the USS Trippe in Charleston S.C., and following his discharge in 1980, he returned to Preston. He received a degree in criminal justice from Rochester Community College and after completing law enforcement training in Hibbing, Minn., was employed by the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department. On July 16, 1983, he married Michele Borman in Kasson. They lived in Stewartville and later Heber Springs, Ark., where they owned and operated a Dairy Queen for several years. Mr. Peirce was a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and an instructor at his own school in Arkansas. He was a police officer in Searcy, Ark., for 10 years until retiring and returning to Preston in 2001 due to health reasons.

Survivors include two sons, Benjamin and Nicholas, both of Searcy; his father, Arlynn Peirce of Chatfield; his mother, Valerie (Gene) Christensen of Preston; two brothers, Allen (Holli) of Becker, Minn., and Randy of Boise, Idaho; and a sister, Lori (Ken) McCabe of Chatfield.

A memorial service was September 6, 2003 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. The body was cremated. Burial was in Crown HiIl Cemetery in Preston with full military honors. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston is in charge of arrangements.
