Clinton Gordon Ewalt, 82, of Harmony, a former farmer and retired Granger Co-op Creamery manager, died March 17, 2003 at his home.
Born April 1, 1920, in Bristol Township, Fillmore County, to Tillie and Burleigh Ewalt, he attended Bristol Grove School through the eighth grade, and after graduating from Harmony High School in 1937 farmed with his father until joining the Army Air Forces on Dec. 17, 1941. In the fall of 1942 he was sent to Alaska to work on B24 bombers and in 1944 he was transferred to headquarters of the Alaska Department. After his discharge, he was a mechanic for Todd Implement for two years and then farmed in the Harmony area. On June 7, 1947, he married Dorothy Wanless. He was manager of the Granger Co-op Creamery until his retirement and worked part time at the Harmony IGA. He served on various boards and held offices in the Methodist Church in Harmony and later at Root River Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include three sons, Scott of Harmony, Dana of Watauga, Texas, and Glendon of Grand Marais, Minn.; several grandchildren; a brother, Ray of Harmony; and a sister, Shirley Faber of Cincinnati. His wife preceded him in death.
A memorial service was held March 21, 2003 at Root River Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Frances Townsend officiating. Burial was in Prairie Queen Cemetery, near the church. Lindstroms Funeral Home in Harmony was in charge of arrangements.
