Dr. E. G. Kocher, 84, a former Lanesboro veterinarian, died March 1, 2005 in El Dorado, Ark.

Dr. Kocher was a decorated veteran of World War II (Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Bronze Oak leaf cluster) in the Army Air Corps. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1950 and practiced veterinary medicine in Lanesboro until 1969. The Kochers lived in Fort Smith, Ark., Petersburg, Ill., and El Dorado while Edwin worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1991.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rene “Polly;” four daughters, Michele (Richard Nelson) Arnette of Chicago, Pamela (Cameron) Eilts of West Chester, Ill., Margaret (Gregg Ney) Renais of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Sara (Dan Levi) Kocher of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one son, John (Britt Crews) of Garner, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
