Letter from foreign exchange student

My name is Merle Mioch and I’m a German exchange student sponsored by PAX - Program of Academic Exchange. I arrived in Lanesboro last August, and have been staying with the Mensink family and attending Lanesboro High School.

Now after the school year is over, I will return to Germany soon. I am writing to you to express my thanks to everyone here who helped to make my experience so great. First my thanks goes to my host parents, Lance and Patty Mensink and my three host sisters and host brother who let me be a part of their family. They made me feel like their real daughter/sister. I will always be grateful to them for what they gave me and will remember how much fun we had together.

Thanks, too, to the faculty at Lanesboro High School, especially to my teachers who have helped me so much.

I’d also like to thank the people of Lanesboro who welcomed me into the community, showed great interest and curiosity about me and my country, and did their best to make me feel at home.

Families who would like to host a student next year should call my Community Coordinator Ms. Donna Ryan at (608) 323-7039.

I hope other PAX exchange students will have the opportunity I have had here in Lanesboro. You are very special people and I will always remember you. With thanks,

Merle Mioch Bremen, Germany
