Letter about Not the time to be nice...

Mon, Nov 28th, 2016
Posted in All Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

We’re told to accept the loss, “stop the shouting” and “back away from the edge.” Poppycock!!

This is the same advice we get after each mass shooting - be quiet, it’s too emotional a moment to discuss it. Then it goes away until the next mass shooting and then the next.

NO, we should not stop shouting that grabbing women’s genitalia without their permission is a crime and below the presidency!

NO, we should not stop shouting that making fun of people with disabilities and trashing war heroes is unacceptable!

NO, we should not stop shouting that a woman dealing with the painful experience of an abortion should not be “punished!”

NO, we should not stop shouting that suggesting your political opponent could be taken care of by the “Second Amendment people!”

NO, indeed we should shout louder! Who was shouting anyway? We all know who the loud mouths were, why give them a pass? We didn’t shout loud enough!!

NO, we should not step back from the edge. If anything we should step up to that “edge” and try to prevent our beautiful country from falling over that edge into the abyss.

I went to war for my country; I took human life for this country. I should have shouted louder but I was trying to be “nice.”

NO, it’s not the time to be “nice” and crawl in some hole. History shows us that jack boots crush “nice” and fear and hate are motivators to hell.
