City of Peterson Regular Monthly Meeting March 12, 2008

Present: Dick Lee, Tim Hallum, Bev Klinski, Bill Grindland, Randy Benson and Lolly Melander Guest: Norm Craig

1) Called Meeting to Order at 7:07pm by Mayor Lee

2) Minutes from Previous Month: Lolly Melander (Addition or Corrections) Minutes read out loud by Lolly Melander. Approved as read, on file in clerk's office.

3) Treasurers' Report: Lolly Melander On motion by Bev Klinski; second by Randy Benson to accept treasurers' report as presented. On file in clerk's office. Motion carried.

4) Bills: Lolly Melander (hand out given) Motion made by Bill Grindland, second by Tim Hallum to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.

5) Old Business:

A) Waste Management Update on cart system; report given by Lolly Melander. A survey will be sent out with the April Utility bills. The cart system will be in place around mid-May or first part of June.

B) Mayor Lee reported an easement for a small part of the dike is needed from Fillmore County; he will take care of this. The rest of the properties on the dike will be checked and corrected as needed before a Sewer Plant would be built. Motion by Bev Klinski and second by Randy Benson to continue with survey for dike as needed. Motion carried.

6) New Business:

A) Norm Craig Report; Fillmore County Zoning / Norm explained to council that at this time he would recommend that the City of Peterson have their own Zoning Ordinance in place; he explained that Fillmore County does not have a structural ordinance in place for future hazards within the City of Peterson. Zoning map is on file (color coordinated) which divides the city into Districts (Residential / Commercial / Industrial / Agriculture, etc) Norm has created a Zoning Ordinance for the City of Peterson for their review. Maps and copy of ordinance were given to council to review. Some discussion from council regarding locations of businesses and residential areas.

B) Water / Tim Hallum - good; Rick Lee attended a Water Seminar in Rochester (March). He reported back that sand point well water can get into our city water supply, Rick will get a contact name and phone number and ask him to come to Peterson to assist with sealing old wells that are not being used. There would be no cost to the City or Home owner at this time for the service.

C) Police / Dick Lee - ok

D) Streets / Randy Benson - ok / Bridges are good and no news from Bonestroo Engineering Firm. .....
