YOUNG WRITERS TO MEET

The Hiawatha Valley Education District will host the annual "Young Writers' Conference" on May 13th and 14th, 2010 at Winona State University. There are over 1,000 students from grades 3-8 registered from the following schools: Arcadia, Caledonia, Chatfield, Cochrane Fountain City, Dover-Eyota, Holmen, Houston, LaCrescent Montessori, Lake City, Lanesboro, Lewiston-Altura, Mabel-Canton, Onalaska, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Ridgeway Community School, Riverway Learning Community, Rushford-Peterson, St. Charles, St. Mary's Catholic, Spring Grove, Wabasha-Kellogg, and Winona (Bluffview Montessori, Cathedral, Central, Goodview, Jefferson, Madison, Rollingstone, St. Matthews, St. Martins, Washington-Kociusko, and Winona Middle School).



Each student will have the opportunity to meet and work with three of the following presenters: Al Batt (Naturalist), Charlene Baumbich (Fiction), Lisa Brainard (Travel), Bev Cotter (Historical Writing), Michael Cotter (Storytelling), Patti Darbo (Songwriting), Darrell Ehrlick (Journalism), Gary Harbo (Illustration), Blake Hoena (Novelist), Ryan Jacobson (Fiction), John Kreitzer (Poetry), Tracy Maurer (Non-Fiction), Ken McCullough (Poetry), Katie McKy (Young Adult Novels), Forrest Musselman (Poetry) Scott Novotny (Comedy), Tom Overlie (Newscasting/Media), Mary Jo Pauly (Bookmaking), Rick Ponzio (Fiction), Bruce Ramsdell (Genealogy), and Dean Young (Science Fiction).



This conference is self-supporting and can continue each year with the support from several foundations, area businesses, and individuals. Donations are always welcome and may be sent to: Hiawatha Valley Education District, %Young Writers' Conference, 1410 Bundy Blvd., Winona, MN 55987.
