Minnesota - The Minnesota Center of Online Learning (MCoOL), a program of the Houston Public School District, has announced its open enrollment period for any student living in Minnesota. Students in grades K-12 can enroll until August 20 in the public school either full- or part-time for the upcoming 2010-11 school year, which begins September 7.

"MCoOL enrolls students from diverse backgrounds and provides them with a high-quality online curriculum backed by state-accreditation," said MCoOL Principal, Shel Hiscock. "Our goal is to help each student realize his or her full potential, and our Minnesota-licensed teachers actively engage with each student to achieve those results."

Courses are taught live via the internet, providing small group instruction and one-on-one support from teachers. The award-winning curriculum offers core courses such as English and math, along with extensive Advanced Placement® classes. Unique curriculum offerings - such as virtual science labs and a wide-range of foreign language courses for everything from Spanish to Chinese - provide students with unparalleled educational opportunities.

Any student living in Minnesota can take advantage of the flexible education option, including previously homeschooled students, athletes, performers and others with busy travel or work schedules, students with special needs and students seeking Advanced Placement courses or electives unavailable in their local school district.

"We maintain a strong commitment to personal attention and the academic success of our students," said Hiscock. "While we utilize cutting-edge technology to deliver education, we remain true to our family and community oriented roots by investing the time to get to know each student and tailor educational plans to meet individual needs and interests."

MCoOL staff and counselors work with each student to design an individually-tailored academic program designed to fit their learning needs, interests and post-high school goals. With a rich and comprehensive K-6 curriculum and more than 100 middle and high school courses available, students and counselors work together to create an optimal plan for each student. The award-winning curriculum includes core courses found in a traditional school setting, including math, science and English, as well as a wide range of electives including unique languages such as Chinese, Advanced Placement course .....
