Felony Charges
Chad Richard Jones, 31, of Spring Valley, was charged in Fillmore County District Court on Monday, September 11, 2006 with one felony count of criminal damage to property. He also faces one gross misdemeanor count of child endangerment.
According to the criminal complaint, it is alleged that on June 23, 2006, Jones shattered the back window of a car belonging to another man at the Kwik Trip in Spring Valley. It was reported that three children were in the car at the time of the incident, including two children belonging to Jones.
Judge James Fabian released Jones on his own recognizance with conditions pending his next court appearance on October 16, 2006.
Felony Disposition
Janse Randell Bjergum, 25, of Spring Grove, was sentenced in District Court on September 11, 2006 to five years probation after pleading guilty to one felony count of burglary. All other charges were dismissed.
According to court documents, Bjergum admitted to participating in the burglary of Engen Construction in rural Mabel on October 25, 2005, where a motor vehicle, 4-wheeler and equipment were stolen.
In addition to probation, Judge Fabian ordered Bjergum to serve 30 days in jail with credit for time served, perform 48 hours of community service, pay a $300 fine and make restitution.
