PRESTON - Derrick Reagan DeBoef, 26, of Sherrard, IL, was charged in Fillmore County District Court on July 12 with 32 additional criminal sexual conduct charges. The charges stem from when DeBoef served as a youth pastor at Christian Valley Christian Center in Spring Valley.
On March 26, 2007, DeBoef was charged with four felony counts of criminal sexual conduct related to his alleged involvement with a minor female who sought counseling from him. The additional charges were made after new information was made available to law enforcement authorities. The new complaint alleges that DeBoef had sexual contact with the same victim on or about July 2006 at a variety of different locations, including the church offices, a golf course, church camp and a Minneapolis hotel.
A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for August 12 for the original four felony charges, with an October 8 trial date. The trial is expected to take four days. DeBoef has pled not guilty to the original charges and was released on $3,000 bail.
A husband and wife, Todd Allen Tolefsrud, 39, and Lisa Ann Tolefsrud, 37, both of Mabel, have each been charged in District Court with two felony counts of theft.
According to court documents, it is alleged that the Tolefsruds sold a tractor belonging to a Pennsylvania man without his consent. The complaint further alleges that the Tolefsruds took payment for labor and materials that were never performed.
Between 2005-2006, the Pennsylvania man delivered 17 antique tractors to the Tolefsruds to restore. He deposited $20,200 with the Tolefsruds to use toward the restoration. In June 2006, the man went to Mabel and was able to locate 16 of 17 tractors. No repair work appeared to have been done and $9500 had been spent from the deposit. Also, a JD 430 Crawler had been sold for $7000 to a third party.
Judge Robert Benson released the Tolefsruds on their own recognizance pending their next court appearance on September 24, 2007.
Jaremy Kent Volkman, 33, of Rushford, was charged in District Court with making terroristic threats, a felony.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 25, 2007, Volkman's dogs wandered onto a neighbor's property, which angered the neighbor's dogs. The neighbor fired a pistol twice in the air trying to scare off Volkman's dogs. The man later took his own dogs in the house. It is alleged that Volkman, angered by the incident, threatened to kill the ne .....
