Felony Appearances

Dylan Douglas Hanson, of Stewartville, age 19, appeared in court on June 8, 2009, facing four counts revolving around the January 2009 theft of a hood from a 1998 Arctic Cat ZR 600 valued at $1,196, a hood from a 1997 Arctic Cat ZR 580 valued at $1,100, a Polaris XC 120 snowmobile valued at $2,000 and a red Polaris Sportsman ATV valued at $5,500. In addition, Hanson faced charges revolving around the theft of a 2008 Polaris Ranger valued at $8,492 and an Arctic Cat ZR 120 valued at $2,500. Judge Nancy Bostrack released Hanson on his own recognizance, with an unconditional bail of $20,000 and order to not make contact with any co-defendants. Hanson will appear again in court on August 17, 2009.

Derek Leroy Thielen, age 27, appeared before Judge Nancy Bostrack on June 8, 2009, facing four counts revolving around the theft of a Arctic Cat ZL 500 valued at $5,000, a Arctic Cat ZR 120 valued at $2,500, a 2008 Polaris Ranger valued at $8,492, and a 2000 Arctic Cat ZL 500 valued at $5,000. Judge Bostrack released Thielen on his own recognizance with an unconditional bond set at $20,000, and an order to have no contact with co-defendants. Thielen will appear before the court again on August 24, 2009.

According to court documents, Elia Jason Swift, age 31, of Dover, appeared before Judge Nancy Bostrack on June 8, 2009, facing three counts revolving around an alleged domestic assult taking place in Chatfield. He was released on his own recognizance with an unconditional bail set at $10,000. Swift is scheduled to appear in court on August 17, 2009.

Felony Sentencing

According to court documents, a Preston man, Nathan William Keim, age 33, appeared in court on May 18, 2009. Keim was represented by attorney Thomas Brown. He faced two counts revolving around alleged theft of $178,385 from Security State Bank of Ostrander, guaranteed by Farm Service Agency, taking place between April 26, 2002 through July 27, 2006. Combined, both counts carried a maximum penalty of 20 years or $100,000, or both, along with three years or $6,000, or both. On May 29, 2009, Judge Leahy ordered Keim to pay $50,000 to the Court Administrator of Fillmore County, paying $400 per month when employed, and $300 per month when not employed. In addition, Keim will serve ten years probation, 100 hours of Community Work Service and 15 days in jail within 120 days of sentencing.
