Galactic Cowboy Orchestra

Tue, Jul 8th, 2014
Posted in All Arts & Culture

ArtHaus is pleased to present The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra on Sunday, July 13 at 7pm in the ArtHaus Studio Courtyard, located next door to Vesterheim Museum. The concert is sponsored by A&J Petersburg Agency.

The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra is a self-proclaimed Jazzgrass Art-Rock band, comprised of a guitar, fiddle, bass, and percussion. A powerful and eclectic ensemble, they blend original and traditional bluegrass-edged tunes with jazz and world fusion elements. Their sound ranges from highly accessible bluegrass to unique arrangements of East Indian songs, and their sound is reminiscent of artists such as Bela Fleck, Rush, John Coltrane, and Jeff Beck.

Two of The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra’s pieces were performed on A Prairie Home Companion in November of 2008, and the group’s first album, “Lookin’ for a Little Strange,” was released in November of 2009. The band has since released four more albums, their latest being "Zombie Mouth" in March 2014.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students; tickets can be purchased at the gate, no reservations required. Guests are welcome to bring their own refreshments. In case of inclement weather, call ArtHaus on Sunday afternoon. For more information, call 563.382.5440, email arthaus508@gmail.com, or visit www.arthausdecorah.org.
