LANESBORO, Minn. (June 30, 2011) - What are the bees telling us? See the Academy Award winning film Queen of the Sun on Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Saint Mane Theatre in downtown Lanesboro. Queen of The Sun follows the voices and visions of underrepresented beekeepers, philosophers, and scientists around the world, all struggling to insure the survival of the bees. Stay after the film for a Q & A with local beekeeper Dave Carlin, who brings a wealth of knowledge from years of experience working with bees and harvesting Carlin's Colonies honey.
Arrive early and stop by the Lanesboro Local Marketplace where you can taste samples of local foods made with honey, including pistachio shortbread cookies topped with honey chevre goat cheese, dotted with fig & black tea preserve. Sampling begins at 6:30 p.m. While you're in, shop the growing selection of local foods and goods.
The Queen of The Sun showing is FREE; no tickets are required. Donations accepted. The tastings, documentary and bee-keeping discussion are a part of the Food & Film Series, a partnership between Lanesboro Local and the Lanesboro Arts Center.

Art fascinates me. Art in the "music" form is my forte and my major in college as a future educator who creates music, but any type of art I appreciate and enjoy observing. Artists from many walks of life put much work into their art, which then cre
