Kenneth Scheevel, 80, of Greenleafton, died Monday evening, November 13, 2000, at the Harmony Care Center, of cancer.

Kenneth was born December 10, 1919, in York Township, Fillmore County, the son of Elmer and Marie (VanSande) Scheevel. He attended Liberty Country School. The couple farmed in the Greenleafton area until 1983 when they retired and moved into Greenleafton. In addition to farming Kenneth was a self-taught carpenter and did building and remodeling in the Greenleafton area. He is survived by three sons, Arlo (Georgia) of Austin, Ellis (Barb) of St. Cloud, and Kenric (Karen) of rural Preston; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister Bernice (Vernal) Nagel of rural Preston; and two brothers, Stanley (Eleanor) Scheevel of Greenleafton and Myron (Gilma) Scheevel of Harmony. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents; an infant son; and a sister, Elvira Berning.

The funeral for Mr. Scheevel was held Friday, November 17, 2000, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church with Rev. Jonathan Loper officiating. Burial was in the Greenleafton Cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
