To the Editor,

Congratulations to Lanes-boro's chief of police. It is great to hear that he puts enforcing the law ahead of being "nice" to folks who have had too much to drink.

A recent national survey conducted by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University found that underage drinkers are responsible for 25% of all alcohol consumption. One of the recommendations for parents is to send a clear message to teens on alcohol use.

The Lanesboro City Council appears to be sending a clear message, and it certainly isn't the right one from these parents' viewpoint.
