Helen Mae TerBeest

Helen Mae TerBeest, 75, of Spring Valley, a homemaker, died May 13, 2001 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.

Helen Mae Plummer was born May 22, 1925, in Etna, Minn. to Glennfield Plummer and Blanche Briggs Plummer. On Oct. 7, 1944, she married Russell TerBeest in Cherry Grove. They farmed in Fillmore County, and her husband also sold seed corn and soybeans and operated a feed store in Cherry Grove. He died in 1994. Mrs. TerBeest had been a 4-H leader and was a member of the American Jersey Cattle Club, Rochester Flower Club, Spring Valley Flower Club and Etna Girls Club. She was an avid gardener, participated in the Rochester Farmers Market and enjoyed collecting, handwork, sewing and animals.

Survivors include three sons, David (Alice) of Canton, Rod of Madison Lake, Minn., and Theodore (Lisa) of La Crescent, Minn.; three daughters, Charlene (Frank) TerBeest-Kudla of Baraboo, Wis., Mariella (Joe) TerBeest-Schladweler of Rochester and Jennifer TerBeest of Spring Valley; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Harry (Reta) Plummer of Waterloo, Iowa; and two sisters, Murna (Joe) Vreeman of Preston and Mary Ness of Chester, Iowa.

The funeral for Helen Mae TerBeest was held May 16, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Cherry Grove, with the Rev. Mark Rader officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.ial was in Lanesboro Cemetery. Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro was in charge of arrangements.
