• Jennifer O’Bryne, of Wykoff, was awarded a Northwestern College Honor Scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year. O’Bryne, a freshman communication arts and literature education major, received the $900 scholarship in April.
• The following local students graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in May 12: Mark McMahon of Chatfield, BS in Athletic Training; April Copeman of Fountain, BT in Elementary Education, graduated Cum Laude; Jessica Meeker of Fountain, BS in Finance, graduated Cum Laude; Angela Anderson of Lanesboro, BS in Accounting, graduated Magna Cum Laude; Jess Benson of Lanesboro, BA in English; Betsy Blixt of Peterson, AA in Liberal Arts; Jason Degeorge of Rushford, BS in Political Science and Law Enforcement; and Ryan Andrist of Spring Valley, BS in Marketing.
• Landon Dybing, of Lanesboro, a sophomore at Minnesota State University, Mankato, competed in five men’s golf invites last fall and led the team at the District V Invitational with a score of 145 and was tied for 4th overall. He placed in several other invites and finished the spring season with a stroke average of 78.58, good for fourth on the men’s team.
• Brenda Anfinson, a Luther College sophomore from Peterson, has been awarded a $400 Spanish Study Abroad Scholarship for the 2001 fall semester. She will be studying at the ISA/Guanajuato in Mexico. Brenda is the daughter of Robert and Caroline Anfinson of Peterson and is pursuing a major in Spanish and Anthropology.
• Ry Rendahl of Ostrander is a member of Wartburg College’s 2001 golf team. He is the son of Gail and Gregory Rendahl.
