Gerald Maynard Geving, 86, of Mabel, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on July 28, 2022, into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. Gerald was born in Spring Grove, Minn., on November 27, 1935, to George and Blonda (Skauge) Geving. He graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1954. On July 27, 1957, he married his high-school sweetheart Carol Clark at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove, Minn. They were married for 65 wonderful years and their love shined throughout his last days.
Gerald proudly served in the Army Reserve from 1956 to 1963, stationed in Tacoma, Wash. After service, they made their home in Mabel, Minn. His work ethic was one to be respected and proud of and semi-retired at age 79. Gerald held several jobs throughout his lifetime; he owned and operated a feed mill, was a milk hauler, worked in the turkey business and carpentry business, and a was a rural U.S. postal carrier. Gerald was active in the community and enjoyed helping others. He was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and a man of faith. He was a volunteer Mabel fireman for 28 years, and served Meals on Wheels to the community.
Gerald was a humble and good man. He cherished many memories and adventures with Carol. He was so proud of his children, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, and great grandpa. Family gatherings brought him the most joy. As Gerald would say, “My wife made me a better man, I have had a very happy life, and I am a blessed man.” We will miss him dearly, but it is comforting to know that he is now with the Lord. Blessed be his memory.
A heartfelt thank you to the neighbors, special friends, and Mayo Clinic in-home hospice for their tender loving care and visits, it meant so much to Gerald and his family.
